When a city is known as the Live Music Capital of the World and encourages its residents to “keep it weird”, you know you’re in for a good time. When you purchase a home in one of Starlight’s Austin-area communities, you and your family will get the perks of living near a unique, creative, and vibrant city.
Below is just a small sampling of the activities that you can look forward to when you make the leap from renting to owning near Austin:
Rock'N River Water Park
During those hot summer days in Texas, the Rock’N River Water Park will provide you and your family with plenty of cool memories. The park was renovated in 2016, doubling in size and fun, and added new attractions including Splashville, a sprayground play area with 51 features; The Quarry, a section of the park that features a 12 foot jumping platform and Rock Climbing Wall, and more!
Austin’s Park N Pizza
Another great way to spend the day is taking the family out to Austin’s Park N Pizza. One of the best things about this entertainment center is that it’s a one-stop-fun-shop, complete with an All-U-Can-Eat buffet, mini golf, arcade games, bumper boats, and laser tag—and that’s just the start! Spanning 50,000 square feet , there’s plenty of fun to be had at this massive venue.
Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park
Visit Lake Walter E. Long at this city park where you can try your hand at catching catfish and various types of bass, or bring your family for a day of outdoor fun. Cookout at one of the barbeque pits, hike along the nature trail or play some volleyball on the courts.
SXSW and ATX
South By Southwest (aka SXSW) is an annual festival that brings music, film, and interactive media together for a week of entertainment like no other. Celebrities and fans alike descend upon the town to enjoy concerts, panels and parties, and when you move to your Starlight Home, you’ll be able to join in on the party.
ATX, or the Austin Television Experience, is another festival that invades the town each year. This 4 day event, solely focused on the television industry, brings out stars, creators, producers and writers of current hit shows, upcoming shows and even TV shows of the past (like the hugely popular Gilmore Girls reunion that they held in 2015).
Toy Joy
The child in you (as well as your actual children) will be entertained for hours by all the fun finds in Austin’s weirdest toy store. The shop has been around since 1987 and is covered wall to wall with toys and novelty items from the past and present.
Alamo Drafthouse
True film buffs will tell you that if you live in Austin, the best movie viewing experience you could want is at the Alamo Drafthouse. With a zero tolerance policy for talking or cell phone use and custom preshows instead of ads, this movie theater focuses more on creating a moviegoing experience, not just holding a showing.
